I really must apologize for my inconsistent blogging lately.  I have several "big" things going on in my non-blog life that are taking quite a bit of my time lately.  But, I do try to get back to blogging when I can.  Thanks for understanding.

Last month, in my newsletter, I shared a technique I came across on Pintrest called "ghosting".  Then, I shared another project using the same technique in this post.  Today, I have one more card that I created using the same technique. 

I discovered that ghosting works best with a lighter color designer paper and darker ink.  The designer paper used in today's project was from the Summer Smooches paper pack.

I like the bright, warm feel of this card.  (Reminds me of summer...will it ever get here?) 

Here are the supplies I used for this card:  Friendly Phrases stamp set; Best of...March Flowers stamp set; Daffodil Delight 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon; Scallop Edge Border Punch; 2 3/8" Scallop Circle Punch; 1 1/4" circle punch and Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder.

Ghosting Technique Sycamore Street Style

In my March newsletter, I shared a technique called the "Ghosting Technique." The technique is not original with me, but something I came across on Pintrest.  However, the card I created is one of my own design.

Paper Stretching Tip

Yesterday I shared with you this project, which I had made for SUO Challenges.  (See the post here.)  In my post I mentioned that I had very little of the Gumball Green designer paper left, and I REALLY wanted to use it for this project.  Today, I want to share with you how a little creative thinking on my part allowed me to use that paper on my project.

When another image is mounted on background paper we don't see the part of background paper that is covered up.  A while back, I shared with you a paper saving tip to get the most use out of designer paper (see blog post here).  Today's tip is very similar to that.

I realized that the stamped image and matte would cover a large part of the card front, so I cut the strip of designer paper in two and attached to the card front.  Here's what the card front looked like before I attached the image.

The designer paper that you see in this photo was all that I had available to use!!  I STRETCHED the paper by cutting it!!  Obviously this technique won't work on all projects, but it certainly is a wonderful solution when the bare area will be covered up!

SUO Challenges - Glitter Galore!

Time for another challenge at SUO Challenges and this one is all about GLITTER!!   I created this project in honor of the snow we FINALLY received over the weekend! (Hopefully it will stay to make for a white Christmas.)  Here's my project:

Although it's difficult to see in this photo, the stamped background is FULL of Dazzling Diamonds glitter.  I used what I all the Dazzling Diamonds technique.  Here's how it works.  I stamped my background snowflakes from the Snowflake Soiree stamp set onto Whisper White card stock.  Then I placed a piece of a Multi-Purpose adhesive sheet over the entire stamped image and peeled off the protective coating.  The next step is to coat the entire background piece with Dazzling Diamonds glitter.  Because the surface is sticky, the Dazzling Diamonds will stick.  This creates a wonderfully WOW project!

The color used for this card was Island Indigo, and I stamped the background snowflakes by stamping off.  This created a more subtle background image.  I covered the entire background, stamping snowflakes on top of snowflakes.  I also added a bit more sparkle with using dot of the  iridescent dazzling details on the large snowflake image.

Watercolor Bordering on Romance

Welcome to Technique Thursday. Today's project is a card that my upline showed me how to do, and I LOVE it!! 

The image from the Bordering on Romance stamp set is first stamped on Crumb Cake card stock using Versa Mark, then White embossing powder is added and set with a Heat Tool.  Once that's done and cooled, water color the image by pressing the pad lid onto the pad (with the lid closed), picking up ink with the AquaPainer and coloring the image.

I usually only think of water coloring images when they are on Whisper White or Very Vanilla card stock, but the results of water coloring on Crumb Cake card stock are absolutely LOVELY!!  Don't just take my word for it...try it for yourself.  Oh, and if you do, leave me a link in the comments section so that I can visit your blog and see your project!

Masked Pumpkin Tutorial

On Saturday, I did a card makeover that included a masked pumpkin. You can see my card here.

Today, on my Technique Thursday, I'm sharing a how-to tutorial.

1.  Punch a 2 3/8” circle from Pumpkin Pie card stock.  (Punch a larger size circle for a bigger pumpkin.)  Punch a second circle of the same size from scrap paper and cut two NARROW strips for the masked lines.  (NOTE: The first time I did this I thought I had cut narrow enough strips, but the lines turned out too wide.  Narrow means 1/4” or less, as seen in the photo.)

2.  Apply Two-Way glue to the backs of the narrow strips, let dry to form removable adhesive, then place as desired on the Pumpkin Pie circle.
Ink desired stamp with desired ink.  I used Day of Gratitude image with Pumpkin Pie ink.  Stamp onto Pumpkin Pie circle.  Lift stamp straight up when finished stamping.

3.  Your “pumpkin” should have lines like the third photo. To finish the pumpkin “body”, cut the bottom of the circle off so it is slightly flat.  Sponge pumpkin edges with Chocolate Chip ink.

4.  Free cut pumpkin stem and leaf from Old Olive card stock and ink edges with Always Artichoke ink.  I added some leaf veins with the Always Artichoke marker.

Your pumpkin is complete and ready to add to your project!

Technique Thursday with Ribbon

Today's card is one that my upline shared at our last group meeting.  I think this technique was shared at Stampin' Up's! Convention.  Sure is a simple, but creative way to make a card.

To begin with, punch a shape out of the center of a piece of card stock (cut to fit your card front).  In this case, the Blossom Punch was used.  Determine where your card stock will be placed on the card front and then apply Snail Adhesive onto the card front where the open area will be.  Next, adhere strips of ribbon (or designer paper) over the snailed area.  Adhere the cardstock with the punched shape over the ribbon area.  It's as simple as that!!

On this particular card, the sentiment and ribbon shape were put onto a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of Whisper White card stock.  This was to allow the Raspberry Ripple ribbon and bow to wrap around to the back of the card front.  Sentiment is from the Hostess set Wacky Wishes.

Printed Petals Mosaic

Those of you who receive my monthly newsletter know that I am highlighting the Printed Petals stamp set this month. Here's another card I made using that stamp set.

Colors are Raspberry Ripple, Basic Black and Whisper White.  I used an In-Color Dahlia embellishment in the center.  My border was created with the Big Shot and Finishing Touches Edgelit.

Creating a four square mosaic seems like it would be an easy task.  But I discovered that it wasn't as easy as I thought. My tip for you, if you decide to re-create this card, is to cut one line through the center of two petals, and the other between two different petals. (Use my sample for reference)  That way your mosaic pieces will be symmetrical.

Merry Snowflake Soiree

It's Sunday...and time for another Christmas card share.  I simply LOVE how this card turned out, and the only stamp set I used was Snowflake Soiree. The technique I used on this card was the thumping technique, same as this card.  It's interesting to note the way color gives a different feel to a card.  The colors I used for today's card were Bashful Blue and Midnight Muse.  I used the largest snowflake to stamp the background, then used the new Fancy Fan Embossing Folder.  I love the look that gave the stamped image.

The sentiment and small snowflake were also stamped with the Thumping Technique so that they would match the feel of the card.  I added a bit of bling with a self-adhesive rhinestone.

Thumping Technique with Printed Petals

I featured the Printed Petals stamp set in my August newsletter, and I'm sharing another card made with that set today. 

I tried the thumping technique when creating this card.  Thumping is a way to add more color to your image before stamping by tapping a darker colored marker over an inked image.  For this card I used Pretty In Pink and thumped Raspberry Ripple on top.  It creates a tie-dye like image.  Sentiment is from the Word Play stamp set.

This card was sent to some special people who helped me out with a request I made in my newsletter last month.  They received a little gift from me as well.
