Spring is in the Air at SUO Challenges

We were challenged to celebrate spring, and I decided to answer the challenge with a "quilt-type" card from an idea I found on Pintrest.

I LOVE the Sunshine and Sprinkles designer paper pack, and all the papers sure do remind me of spring, so that's what I chose to create the squares for this card.  I added the butterfiles (Bitty Butterfly punch) in coordinating colors, because they too remind me of the coming spring!!  Sentiment is from the Friendly Phrases stamp set.  I also used the Fancy Fan embossing folder to give it a "quilt-like" look.

Sale-A-Bration with SUOC

Today's challenge at Stampin' Up! Only Challenges is to use Sale-A-Bration product in our project.  I'm really enjoying using this year's Sale-A-Bration choices, and here's today's project.

Sometimes I enjoy creating cards using repetition and patterns.  Today's card came as a result of "playing" with the Madison Avenue stamp set.  It really doesn't need much explaination. The design is created on a 4" x 4" square of Whisper White.  The Sycamore Street designer paper was punched with a 1" circle punch.  Pool Party card stock was punched with 1 1/4" circle punch and the Rich Razzleberry card stock used the 1 3/8" circle punch. The green is Wild Wasabi and the Pool Party ribbon is from the Sycamore Street ribbon and button pack.

Happy 4th of July!

Even though this isn't your traditional red, white and blue colors for this holiday, I decided to share this card today anyway and hope that the Marina Mist and Rose Red can be an acceptable substitue.

Here's another 3x3 card made with the Reason to Smile stamp set.   This card reminds me of a quilt block.  The flower was made with two of the solid stamp images in the Reason to Smile set, the round flower and the center image.

Here's how I made the quilt block look.  The Rose Red card stock was cut into a 2 ½" square and attached crossways on the 3x3 card front.  The four corners that extend over the card base were trimmed off and attached in each of the corners.  It's as simple as that!

A Just for Fun card

Today's card is one that I created "just for the fun of it"!  I LOVE playing with paper and creating quilt-like cards.  I used the NEW Summer Smooches Designer Paper to create this cheerful card.  I used a non-Stampin' Up! punch that I have in my studio to create the diamond shapes and drew the stitches with my Island Indigo marker.

Quilt Square with Bright Blossoms

I've been PLAYING in my staming studio.  I LOVE to experiment with different ways to use stamps.  The leaves stamp in the Bright Blossoms stamp set was crying out to me to try something different, and I obliged!  The result was this quilt card.

This is a very simple card to create.  I stamped the leaves twice, and THEN punched out with the 1 inch square punch. Sentiment is from the Friendly Phrases stamp set. Colors are Daffodil Delight and Lucky Limeade.  Designer paper is from the Summer Smooches paper pack.

Another Sale-A-Bration Set

Today's card uses another stamped image from the Fresh Vintage Sale-A-Bration stamp set.  I paired it with Island Indigo ink and a piece of designer paper from the Twitterpated set in the Occasions Mini Catalog.

SUOC Favorite Holiday Colors

I'm quite a traditionalist, so I'm choosing red and green for my holiday colors.  HOWEVER, the Holly Berry Bouquet Designer Paper uses Wild Wasabi for the green...and I LOVE it with the Real Red.  And, there's NO STAMPING on this card either.

For this challenge, I went with a simple quilt theme and punched the Designer Paper using the one inch punch.  After adhering the squares to my base paper, I ran it through the Big Shot using the Snow Burst textured embossing folder.  I sponged the edges with Real Red ink to give it the worn look.

My poinsettia flower was made with the Five Petal punch, crumpling the card stock after punching and then separating the layers of card stock to give it a soft feel.

Ribbon Challenge at SUOC

I haven't worked with the 1 1/4" wide striped Grosgrain ribbon Stampin' Up! has available in their catalog, so saw this challenge as the perfect opportunity to try working with it.  I had the Cajun Craze ribbon on hand for another project, so that determined my color choice for the card.

I gathered the ribbon by sewing a gathering thread and pulled it to desired length.  (I'll show you how in a future blog post!).  Attached to the card base using Sticky Strip to make sure it stayed in place.  I created the striped background with Cajun Craze and Very Vanilla card stock, added stitching lines with Cajun Craze marker and ran the piece through the Big Shot machine using the Square Lattice embossing folder.  Slight coloring on the Very Vanilla stripes and 3" circle came from "pouncing" an inked sponge lightly on the card stock.  Stamped image is Triple Treat Flower stamp (ala carte), inked with VersaMark and black embossing powder.  After heat setting, I colored with So Saffron and Tangerine Tango markers.
