Gingerbread Man Punch Art Tutorial

DSC03250

As promised, here's my tutorial on how I created this cute gingerbread man.  In the picture below, you can see which punches I used.  Soft Suede was the color card stock he was made from.

My next photo shows what needs to be done to each punch to prepare for assembly.

Next, it's time to put him together.  I like to use two-way glue.

Add the "icing" details with a white gel pen.

Attach his shirt.  The left side shows what the shirt piece looks like before you fold the tab to the back, the right side shows the finished look.

Here's what he looks like with pearl eyes and rhinestone buttons.

SUOC – Using Punches

SUOC Gingerbread Man

The challenge this time on SUO Challenges was to use punches as the focal point.  I created this Gingerbread Man with punches.

He reminds me of when I was a child.  Every Christmas when we would go to visit my Grandma, she would ALWAYS have a homemade Gingerbread Man cookie decorated especially for me!  Such fun memories to recall.

Stop back tomorrow for a tutorial on making this cute little guy!

Now it's YOUR turn to create a project using a punch as the focal point.  Join us here, at SUO Challenges.

Spooky Spiders

Spiders are not my favorite creatures…however when it comes to spiders on a card at Halloween time, I don't mind them.  Here's a fun spider card, created using the Spider Web embossing folder.

Spooky Spider

I dusted the raised web lightly with black chalk using a cotton ball.  The spider is made using the small oval punch, and I drew the face on with marker.  The legs are scrap pieces of 1/8" Black Taffeta ribbon, adhered to the back of the circle.  I raised the spider up using Stampin' Dimnesionals.  The black tulle embellishment was one I created when I found some unused tulle while digging for other fabric.

Hope you enjoyed my spooky spider card.  I'll have one more Halloween card to share tomorrow.

Sailing through summer!

Nautical Sunset

We are experiencing an INCREDIBLE heat wave here in Minnesota.  We have excessive heat warnings for high temperatures.  It feels like a tropical rainforest here!!

Because of some family health issues the past couple months, I haven't been as regular at posting as I would like.  I also realized that I have not posted many cards using product from the Summer Mini catalog.  Well, today I plan to change that!

This is a great masculine card made from The Open Sea stamp set and was one that I made at our local demonstrator get-together Shoebox Swap back in May.  This isn't one I designed, but LOVE the creativity of the ship's wheel spokes using the Modern Label Punch, as well as the colors used in the background for the sunset.

I appreciate your patience with me as I get back to regular blogging.  If you are interested in ordering this stamp set, visit my online store.

Punch Art Sunflower

Today's sunflower punch art card came from a "playtime" with punches that I had in my craft area.  It's quite easy to make.  Stop back tomorrow for my step-by-step tutorial on how I made the flower.

Punch Art Sunflower

Here are the card details:

Not Quite Navy card base

Basic Black card stock for flower center

More Mustard card stock for flower petals, sentiment oval and designer label punch

Pear Pizzazz card stock for leaves, sentiment matte and strip

Stamp set for sentiment: Fabulous Phrases

Remember, I'll be posting the directions tomorrow. Until then, have fun stampin' it up!

Graduation Time is quickly approaching

Here's a graduation card that my local customers created at one of my monthly events.

Graduation Cap

This is a quick and simple card to create.  The sentiment is from Curly Cute stamp set, stamped in Basic Gray ink onto Very Vanilla card stock.  Card base and sentiment matte is Basic Black.  Hat is created using the Designer Label punch for the hat base and a 1 1/2" diagonal square for the top (an idea I found on someone else's blog).  I hand cut the tassel from a scrap of Brushed Gold card stock and attached with a glitter brad.  The ribbon is 1/4" Very Vanilla grosgrain.  I used Very Vanilla card stock run through the Big Shot using the Square Lattice impressions folder for the image base.

If you need to create graduation cards, try this one (or a variation of it).  Materials can be found on my order site.

Butterflies for SUO Challenges

The SUO Challenge this week was to create a card containing a butterfly.  Well, I was "playing" with the new Stampin' Up! Doily Triple Layer punch available in the new 2011 Summer Mini catalog.  Here's what "fluttered by" as I was experimenting.

Punched Butterflies

The butterfly wings were created with the solid layer of the Doily Triple Layer Punch.  Here's how:  Punch TWO solid images from designer paper. (I used the Paisley Petals designer paper available in July when the new Idea Book and Catalog comes out.) Then, cut each piece into fourths, from tip of scallop across to tip of opposite scallop.  There will be 8 total pieces (four from each punched image), you will only use 6.  Put center points of two pieces together and attach to card stock with Two-Way Glue Pen.  Cut a scrap piece of card stock for the body, attach over center points and draw antennas with Stampin' Write Marker.  Very cute and (best of all!) …. VERY SIMPLE!!

Other card details:  Card base is Old Olive card stockDaffodil Delight card stock was used for the base for the butterflies and stamped image and I sponged the edges with More Mustard ink.  Images are also stamped with More Mustard ink (Just Believe stamp set, Hello Again stamp set).  Ribbon is 1/8" Taffeta Daffodil Delight ribbon.

Well, that's it for today.  Thanks for stopping by to visit.  If you try making these butterflies, please leave a comment and link to your card.  I'd love to see what you do with them!  Also, don't forget to enter your card in the SUO Challenge!

Snowstorm Snowman!

DSC02497

This cute little guy is a perfect post for the day after a snowstorm.  I've seen quite a few of these snowmen in blogging land and decided that I definitely needed to try one.  Fast, fun and easy to make. Try one yourself and see!

December Class Items

  DSC02492
If you had attended my monthly class event in December, these are the items you would have created.  It's always fun to have cute cards to attach to gifts.  The punch art snowman is acutally wrapped around a candy bar and would make a great stocking stuffer.  I made the candy bag topper using the gingerbread man  from the Jolly Bingo Bits stamp set.

Here are the other Stampin' Up! items used:

Autumn Days stamp set; Serene Snowflakes stamp set; Snow Swirled stamp set; Delightful Decorations stamp set; Two Step Bird punch

Well, as I write this post, we are experiencing more snow!!!  Simply unbelieveable.  By the time the storm is over tomorrow morning, we will have received around six inches.  We certainly will have a White Christmas here!

Thanks for stopping by for a visit.
