Open Seas Birthday

Open Seas Birthday
The Open Seas stamp set is a wonderful one to use for masculine cards.  The card I'm sharing today uses that stamp set and is one that was offered last week at my "card buffet".

It's simple to create as well.  Color is Midnight Muse and here's a list of the other products used:

Big Shot, Top Note Die, Chevron Embossing Folder, Ovals Collection Framelits, Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set (for sentiment), Word Window punch, Comfort Cafe designer paper.

Shop my online store to purchase any of the products used in today's card.

Thanks for stopping.  Have fun stampin' it up!

Masculine Birthday Card

Tool Shed Birthday
Happy Birthday to my dad!  Well, not really.  His birthday is December 23 (two days before Christmas!).  For the last 15 years or so, we have waited to celebrate his birthday until January or February, when it isn't so hectic.  At the same time we celebrate my mom's and husband's February birthdays.  Two weeks ago we took my parents to a local comedy event as a way to celebrate their birthdays.  This is the card I created for my dad.  It fits him perfectly!  He has always been handy with tools and projects around the house.  I can give him most anything and he can find a way to fix it!!  We lovingly call his "repair shop" Joe's Junkyard.  Here's to you dad – thanks for all the fixing up you've done for me!

Now on to the card details.  Card base is Soft Suede and image is stamped on Crumb Cake.  The Tool Shed stamp was stamped with Crumb Cake ink, then embossed using the Woodgrain Textured Embossing Folder.  The Happy Birthday sentiment (from the Sassy Salutations stamp set) was stamped in Soft Suede ink.  I used the NEW Natural 7/16" Trim Ribbon for an accent…and it was the perfect finishing touch for the card.

The Tool Shed stamp is perfect for making those hard to create masculine themed cards.  The stamp can be ordered in my online store.

Masculine Get Well Card

I liked the mascuine feel of today's Saturday Card Makeover.  It is sometimes difficult to find appropriate cards to send to men.   Here's my card makeover for today:

Get Well Butterfly Makeover

What I find interesting about this card is that it uses a butterfly, but still looks masculine.  I think that's because of the colors used:  Soft Suede and So Saffron.

Here's the card that was the inspiration for my card:

Get Well Butterfly Original

I used the Houndstooth Embossing Folder to add background texture, my substitute for the original card's stamped background.  For the image background piece, I used the Labels Collection Framelits and cut two of the edges off.  Sentiment is from the Perfectly Penned stamp set and the butterfly is from the Papillon Potpourri stamp set (both stamped in Basic Black).  I added some paper pierced holes along the two sides and at the top points for interest.

Hope you found some inspiration in today's post.  I'd love it if you would leave me a comment and let me know if you are enjoying these weekly card makeovers.

Have fun stampin' it up!

Occasional Alphabet Masculine Birthday Card

Cajun Craze Birthday Wishes

I really like the Occasions Alphabet stamp set, but haven't used it as much as I'd like.  Today I'm sharing a card I created with that set.  I chose the H letter, for Happy Birthday and created a masculine card.  Other items used were:  Comfort Cafe Designer Paper, Square Lattice Embossing folder, Apothecary Accents Framelits and Big Shot, BoHo Blossoms Punch, and 3/4" circle punch.

The Occasions Alphabet set includes other cute phrases such as: "B is for Baby…and bouncing and beautiful"; "F is for Friend…you're one of the best"; "R is for Retire and Rest and Relax".  Check it out on page 145 of the Big Catalog.

Thanks for stopping by for a visit.  Have fun stampin' it up!

Father’s Day Tree

Oak Tree Father's Day

This is the last card I'll share with you from my May Card Buffet.  It uses the Lovely as a Tree stamp set, and sentiment from Delightful Dozen.  Designer paper is Mocha Morning.

Even though it has a Father's Day sentiment, this card is a perfect masculine card for ANY occasion.

Thanks for stopping.  Have fun stampin' it up!

Happy Birthday SUOC Style

Today's challenge at SUO Challenges is a birthday card.  This was a very timely challenge for me, as it is my son's birthday tomorrow.  (He shares his special day with George Washington!).  Here's the card I created for him, and for today's challenge.

Pheasant Card

I first colored the pheasant from the Autumn Days stamp set using the Black Magic technique (stamping the image in white craft ink and then coloring with color pencils).  After this was completed, I chose the colors for the card.  The new Island Indigo went perfectly  with the color in the pheasant's head and I paired it with Riding Hood Red.  The ribbon is the Twill Tape which I colored using Riding Hood Red Re-inker.  I used the Houndstooth embossing folder to add some texture to the background.

Now it's your turn to create and share a birthday card with the team at SUO Challenges.  Click here to see what the team has come up with.

Sailboat Birthday

Patriotic Sailboat

This would make a great masculine birthday card!  I think Night of Navy and Cherry Cobbler are a great combo together for manly cards. The sailboat image is from the Uncharted Territory stamp set and sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes.  This card was another of the choices at my June Card Making Buffet.

My August newsletter will be mailed tomorrow.  Make sure to sign up in my right sidebar to be included on my email list.

Sailing through summer!

Nautical Sunset

We are experiencing an INCREDIBLE heat wave here in Minnesota.  We have excessive heat warnings for high temperatures.  It feels like a tropical rainforest here!!

Because of some family health issues the past couple months, I haven't been as regular at posting as I would like.  I also realized that I have not posted many cards using product from the Summer Mini catalog.  Well, today I plan to change that!

This is a great masculine card made from The Open Sea stamp set and was one that I made at our local demonstrator get-together Shoebox Swap back in May.  This isn't one I designed, but LOVE the creativity of the ship's wheel spokes using the Modern Label Punch, as well as the colors used in the background for the sunset.

I appreciate your patience with me as I get back to regular blogging.  If you are interested in ordering this stamp set, visit my online store.
