SUOC Elegant Autumn

SUO Elegant Autumn
My apologies for not posting my SUO Challenges project sooner!!  Life has been crazy busy in our household.  Guess it slipped past my radar.

This summer I held a class where we created a cascading card.  I enjoyed making that one, and had an idea in my head to create a similar card to celebrate the fall season.  This challenge was the perfect opportunity to try.

I used the Autumn Accents Bigz die and Big Shot to cut my leaves.  Colors used were Riding Hood Red, Elegant Eggplant, More Mustard, Soft Suede.  I used my Simply Scored stylus and Stampin' Pierce mat to add the veins to my leaves, then sponged them to give dimension.  I used Comfort Cafe designer paper for the front of the card base.  Sentiment is from Friendly Phrases stamp set.

Make sure to check out the SUO Challenge blog to see the other projects for this challenge.

Thanks for stopping.  Have fun stampin' it up!

Last World Card Making Day

Wedding CardThis is the last card I have to share with you for World Card Making Day.  Hope that you have enjoyed the cards I've shared with you today.

I have a co-worker who needed a card for a wedding this weekend and she asked me to make one for the occasion.  I guess the couple likes to bike, and I immediately thought of this retired stamp set.  Because it's a fall wedding, I chose fall colors.

Supplies:  Take it To Heart stamp set (retired), Itty Bitty Banners stamp set (W 126255, C 126257), Chocolate Chip, More Mustard, Cajun Craze, Cherry Cobbler card stock, Big Shot, Fashionable Hearts Embosslits, Houndstooth (123134), Square Lattice (119976), Perfect Polka Dots (117335), Argyle (127750) embossing folders, Bitty Banners framelits (129267)

You can order these supplies from my online store.

Well that's it from this blogger for today.  Come back tomorrow to see how I embellished last week's Christmas card share.

Have fun stampin' it up!

Tricky Treats Spider and Web

Tricky Treats Spider and Web
Time for another card made with the Tricky Treats stamp set.  The spider image and sentiment (from Wacky Wishes hostess stamp set) were embossed with Basic Black embossing powder.  Then I CAREFULLY trimmed the spider image.

The card base is Basic Gray.  The spider web was created on Whisper White card stock using the Spider Web embossing folder in the Big Shot.  The embossed spider web and edges of the Whisper White card stock, as well as the edges of the sentiment piece, were sponged with Basic Gray ink to give a spooky feel.

It feels great to be able to share a card with you today!!  I've missed posting on a regular basis, and hope to visit more frequently in the future!

Thanks for stopping…have fun stampin' it up!

SUOC Kid Fun

SUOC Kid FunToday's SUO challenge was to make something with a "kid" theme.  Well, I had a "leftover" trick or treat sparkle image sitting in my work area, and decided to build a project around that, and here's the result.

Summary of project details:  Fancy Favor box cut out on the Big Shot using Tangerine Tango  card stock, Howlstooth and Scaringbone designer paper used for front of box, hole punched with 2 3/8" circle punch, sentiment from Wacky Wishes hostess set-embossed with black embossing powder (Whisper White card stock edges sponged with Basic Gray ink), Tricky Treats image stamped in Basic Black onto Whisper White card stock – sparkle added with Multi-Purpose Adhesive sheets and Dazzling Diamonds, Curly Label punch used to punch stamped image, 1/2" Striped Satin ribbon for the bow.

This project was an extra fun one to create. I enjoyed hosting fellow SUO Design Team member Pam Staples at my home for an evening of crafting fun. She was in the Twin Cities visiting family and it worked out for us to fit in some stamping time, allowing the opportunity to create our projects for this challenge together in my craft studio. I really had fun chatting with Pam while we worked together!  So glad you could come by!!

Masked Pumpkin Tutorial

On Saturday, I did a card makeover that included a masked pumpkin. You can see my card here.

Today, on my Technique Thursday, I'm sharing a how-to tutorial.

1.  Punch a 2 3/8” circle from Pumpkin Pie card stock.  (Punch a larger size circle for a bigger pumpkin.)  Punch a second circle of the same size from scrap paper and cut two NARROW strips for the masked lines.  (NOTE: The first time I did this I thought I had cut narrow enough strips, but the lines turned out too wide.  Narrow means 1/4” or less, as seen in the photo.)

Masked Pumpkin 1

2.  Apply Two-Way glue to the backs of the narrow strips, let dry to form removable adhesive, then place as desired on the Pumpkin Pie circle.
Ink desired stamp with desired ink.  I used Day of Gratitude image with Pumpkin Pie ink.  Stamp onto Pumpkin Pie circle.  Lift stamp straight up when finished stamping.

Masked Pumpkin 2

3.  Your “pumpkin” should have lines like the third photo. To finish the pumpkin “body”, cut the bottom of the circle off so it is slightly flat.  Sponge pumpkin edges with Chocolate Chip ink.

4.  Free cut pumpkin stem and leaf from Old Olive card stock and ink edges with Always Artichoke ink.  I added some leaf veins with the Always Artichoke marker.

Your pumpkin is complete and ready to add to your project!

Masked Pumpkin Makeover

Masked Pumpkin
Welcome to my Saturday Card Makeover!!  With September (and fall) just around the corner, I decided to try this Masked Pumpkin makeover.  Again, I found the original in a Paper Crafts magazine (October 2008).  The designer was Lisa Dorsey and here's the original:

Pumpkin Original

Remember, the goal is to recreate the card using ONLY Stampin' Up! supplies.  Here's a list of the products I used:

Tangerine Tango card stock for the card base; Very Vanilla card stock; Howlstooth and Scaringbone Designer Paper; Tangerine Tango ink for sentiment and sponging; Pumpkin Pie card stock and ink for pumpkin; Old Olive card stock and ink for the stem and leaves; Chocolate Chip ink for sponging pumpkin edges; Teeny Tiny Wishes for the greeting; Day of Gratitude stamp set for the pumpkin design; Big Shot; Houndstooth embossing folder, Finishing Touches edgelit; 2 3/8" Circle Punch for the pumpkin

I'll be back on Thursday with a tutorial for the masking technique I used to create the pumpkin.

Cleaning up the table scraps card

I was cleaning up my card making area over the weekend and found some paper scraps laying around begging to be used on a card…

Riding Hood Leaves

(Riding Hood Red card stock; Spice Cake Designer Paper, Autumn Days stamp set)

This one went together quickly…under 10 minutes.  What kind of scraps do you have laying around waiting to be used in a card?

Thanks for stopping and have fun stampin it up!

Golden Birthday Greetings

Golden Wheat

My apologies for being such an absent blogger.  I was in a craft fair a little over a week ago, and the days since have just been crazy busy.  I do like to try to schedule posts ahead, and didn't even have time to gather my thoughts and do that.

I'd like to take the time and let those who visit on a regular basis know how much I appreciate their stopping by.  My hope is that you gain inspiration when you visit.

Today's card was made with the Always Thankful stamp set.  I really like the images in that set and this was a card we made in one of my monthly event classes.  The card base is Island Indigo, which goes fabulously with More Mustard and So Saffron.  The Designer Paper is Spice Cake and I sponged the edges of the stamped image and sentiment to get the shaded look.

Thanks for stopping.  Have fun stampin' it up!

SUOC Thankful

Suoc thankful

The theme this time at SUO Challenges is thankfulness.  Here's my card for the challenge.  I love the sentiment from the Day of Gratitude stamp set.  I do try to find things to be thankful for each and every day, even when things go a different way than I had planned.  Having a grateful heart causes me to realize how blessed I really am.  The other stamped image is from the Always Thankful stamp set found in the 2011 Holiday Mini Catalog.

Now it's your turn.  Let's see what you can come up with for the challenge.

Triple Treat Flower – Day One

Triple Treat flower

I'm at a craft fair this weekend, so am setting up my posts in advance.  I've got two cards to share with you using the Triple Treat Flower stamp (an ala carte choice in the Idea Book and Catalog).  Today's card was my first attempt at using this stamp.  It is similar in style to the Day of Gratitude stamp set, maybe that's why I was drawn to the stamp.

The colors in my photo appear brighter than they are in real life.  I stamped the image in Staz-On ink and then colored in with marker.  Colors used were More Mustard, Riding Hood Red, Cajun Craze, Pear Pizzazz and Old Olive.  I think the card has a nice fall feel to it.

Thanks for stopping by to visit.  I'll be back tomorrow with a second card to share using this same stamp set.  Until then…

Have fun stampin' it up!

Thinking of you for SUOC

Thinking of You leaves

"Thinking of You" cards are my favorite type cards to have on hand.  They're so versitile and can be used for so many reasons…encouragment, get well, sympathy, hello, and many more.  This time on SUO Challenges we were asked to create a "Thinking of You" card.  I went with a fall theme and used the Autumn Splendor stamp set.  Colors used were Cherry Cobbler, So Saffron and Tangerine Tango.  Sentiment is from Sincere Salutations.

Stop on over to the SUO Challenge blog and upload your Thinking of You card creation.  We'd love to have you join us!

Have fun stampin' it up!

Happy Halloween Wishes

Happy Halloween!!

Cajun Halloween Wishes.

Hope that you get more treats than tricks!

One way to do that is to make sure you're signed up on my newsletter mailing list.  My November newsletter will be sent tomorrow and you won't want to miss the exclusive projects I'll have for you!  If you aren't on my list already, make sure to sign up on my blog sidebar!

Supplies used:  Cajun Craze ink and card stock, Basic Black card stock, Gift Givers stamp set, 1 1/4" Cajun Craze Striped Grosgrain ribbon, Top Note die and Big Shot, Decorative Label Punch, Blender Pen, Sponge

Spooky Spiders

Spiders are not my favorite creatures…however when it comes to spiders on a card at Halloween time, I don't mind them.  Here's a fun spider card, created using the Spider Web embossing folder.

Spooky Spider

I dusted the raised web lightly with black chalk using a cotton ball.  The spider is made using the small oval punch, and I drew the face on with marker.  The legs are scrap pieces of 1/8" Black Taffeta ribbon, adhered to the back of the circle.  I raised the spider up using Stampin' Dimnesionals.  The black tulle embellishment was one I created when I found some unused tulle while digging for other fabric.

Hope you enjoyed my spooky spider card.  I'll have one more Halloween card to share tomorrow.

Have fun stampin' it up!

Halloween Stamping Fun

Halloween Swap

Isn't this such a cute card?!!  I received it in a swap with my local demonstrator group.  The image is from the Festive and Fun stamp set found in the 2011 Holiday Mini Catalog.  I love the gatefold feature of the card, the way the stamped image is split in half and how a partial image was used on top using a circle shape.  The texture on the card is made using the Houndstooth embossing folder and the Big Shot.

Life for me has been very busy.  Next weekend I will be participating in a local craft fair, so have been working very hard on my preparations for that.  Hopefully after next weekend I can get back into my groove with blog posts and ideas.  Thanks for being patient with me.

Have fun stampin' it up!

Favorite Stamp Set…Again

Medallion in pearls
Day of Gratitude is one of my FAVORITE stamp sets, especially for fall.  I had stamped this medallion image for another project, but decided that it wouldn't work for that one.  So, I used it for this card…and discovered that Cajun Craze and Island Indigo are two colors that are absolutely FABULOUS together.

The medallion is stamped with Cajun Craze onto Very Vanilla card stock and then sponged in the center.  The lattice die makes a wonderful background to show it off.  I used the lace ribbon border punch and finished the card off by embellishing with self adhesive pearls.  The pearls add a touch of elegance, don't you think?

So glad you took time out of your day to stop by and visit.  Have fun stampin' it up!

SUOC Autumn Leaves

SUOC Leaves

Fall is my favorite time of year and we have had an absolutely gorgeous one in Minnesota this year! The leaves are changing to their yellow, red and orange colors, creating a beautiful color palette.

Here's my card for the SUO Challenge to use leaves on a card.  The leaves I used are from the Gently Falling stamp set, found on page 16 in the Holiday Mini catalog.  I am absolutely loving the new Spice Cake designer paper as well.  The sentiment is from the Perfectly Penned stamp set.

Now it's your turn to join with us and create a card with leaves.  Looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

Have fun stampin' it up!

For the Love of Autumn

SUOC Fall Colors

Fall is my FAVORITE time of year so it wasn't hard for me to come up with a card for the SUO Challenge this time!  I love all the vibrant red, gold, and orange colors that appear in nature and really enjoy using them together in my fall cards.

This card uses an image from a new stamp set found in the Holiday Mini Catalog.  It's called Always Thankful and the pumpkin filled wheelbarrow just cried out "It's Fall!".  I used a blender pen to color the image and used a sponge and Soft Suede ink to give it the distressed look (to match the Well Worn Designer Paper).  Card base is Not Quite Navy, another color that fits in well as a fall color.  The other accent color used is Cajun Craze.

That's it for now.  Remember to join in the fun by posting your own Fall Colors sample at SUO Challenges.

Ribbon Challenge at SUOC

Ribbon SUOC

I haven't worked with the 1 1/4" wide striped Grosgrain ribbon Stampin' Up! has available in their catalog, so saw this challenge as the perfect opportunity to try working with it.  I had the Cajun Craze ribbon on hand for another project, so that determined my color choice for the card.

I gathered the ribbon by sewing a gathering thread and pulled it to desired length.  (I'll show you how in a future blog post!).  Attached to the card base using Sticky Strip to make sure it stayed in place.  I created the striped background with Cajun Craze and Very Vanilla card stock, added stitching lines with Cajun Craze marker and ran the piece through the Big Shot machine using the Square Lattice embossing folder.  Slight coloring on the Very Vanilla stripes and 3" circle came from "pouncing" an inked sponge lightly on the card stock.  Stamped image is Triple Treat Flower stamp (ala carte), inked with VersaMark and black embossing powder.  After heat setting, I colored with So Saffron and Tangerine Tango markers.

Now it's your turn to join us at SUO Challenges.  What can you create with ribbons and bows?

Another “Discovered” card!

DSC02328

Here's another card that I found lurking in my files.  We created this card at a fall stamp-a-stack.  It's a very simple one – card base of More Mustard with a layer of Cajun Craze.  A piece of Autumn Spice DSP is layered on top of this and then the stamped image.  Sentiment is from the Curly Cute stamp set and leaves are from the Day of Gratitude set.  Ink is Early Espresso and ribbon is Old Olive 5/8" satin ribbon.

This is a very quick and simple card to create.  It's great to have ideas like this when you need to make a card in a short amount of time.

Thanks for stopping by for a visit.  Blessings!
