The SUOC Challenge before us this time is to use designer paper in our project. Well, the project I had pictured in my head, and the actual project you see posted here are two entirely different ideas. Has that ever happened to you?
I started out wanting to use the hexagon shapes from this pattern of the Twitterpated designer paper set and create a quilt-like design. I laid the design out, but then one thing led to another and this is the result.
I think this would be a fabulous anniversary card for a couple celebrating their "silver" (25th) wedding milestone.
And, I discovered something when creating this card. Two Stampin' Dazzle marker colors are available in the new Holiday Catalog and I used the silver one on this card. At first, I just used the marker to draw a border along the edge of the Whisper White card stock. It looked nice. Then, I started wondering IF the marker could be used like our Stampin' Write markers to color directly on the stamps. I was worried if the ink could be easily cleaned from the stamps, so tried it on an old stamp first. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I could color and stamp with the marker and that our Stampin' Mist Cleaner easily took the ink off the stamp. Of course, I cleaned the stamp immediately. My disclaimer is that I don't know if it would clean as easily if the ink remained on the stamp for a long period of time.
I'm glad to discover this. There are times when I want just a bit of silver or gold stamped on my card, and, other than the Shimmer Paint, there really wasn't an option.
Thanks for stopping by today! Please join us with your creation using designer paper here, at SUO Challenges.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks about cutting designs out of DSP rather than just using it as is! And I'm glad to know about the new markers - I think I have some coming in my order today :)
